Tribu outdoor furniture basking in the brilliant Miami sunshine at the Marybelle Penthouse. The Marybelle Penthouse at The Surf Club of the Four Seasons Hotel is a luxurious private retreat with spectacular sea and city views.
The Surf Club is chic, discreet and subtly glamorous, in keeping with its 1930s heyday as a private members club for privacy-seeking stars, among them Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor. The Marybelle Penthouse is the ultimate expression of Surf Club elan. As Dirand says, “In Miami, the colours I’m using are those in front of my eyes: the palm trees, the beach, the colour of the water, the sky.”
Dirand is a confirmed minimalist. His choice of Tribù’s Illum dining table and armchairs, by designers Merckx & Maes, and Mirthe sofa by Studio Segers, harmonises with the less-is-more theme and restrained colour palette.
The Mirthe sofa’s bold look comes from its extra-deep cushions secured in a curving shell of varnished aluminium. Its fast-drying cushions and weather-resistant covers ensure it retains its pristine appearance. For the same intimate terrace, Dirand worked with Tribù on simple, bespoke loungers. “For my projects, everything we design is more and more custom-made,” says Dirand. He also created bespoke easy chairs with Tribù for the shaded poolside lounge area.
With the success of the Marybelle Penthouse, Dirand is working on a new project with Four Seasons and the same developer. “Every aspect that can create beauty in life contributes to the success of a design. It has been such an amazing collaboration with the developer Nadim Ashi.”
