Western Red Cedar, a steel frame and roof to floor glass creates this oasis nestled in the Constantia forest of Cape Town. The client called on Malan Vorster Architecture and Design to help create his dream home.
Malan Vorster specified the Gloster Sway chairs and Carver table as a dining option on the outside deck along with the Dansk Teak coffee tables and Tribù Mood Clubchair in other cozy corners of this magnificent house.
Upon installation we spend some time with Pieter Malan who passionately shared the many challenges and delights that accompanies a complex project such as this.
We had the privilege of witnessing a streamlined team of professionals, each a specialist in their field, adding the very final finishing touches to this incredible structure. Western red Cedar, valued for its distinct appearance, aroma, and its high natural resistance to weathering, was used to clad the entire home. Connecting the three floors was a spiral oak staircase, each step handcrafted to complete a floating appearance. The structural Corten steel is untreated to oxidise with time. The massive windows on each level ensures an almost 360 degree view of the beautiful forest that surrounds it.
Jan-Heyn and Pieter carefully selected the furniture upon a visit to our showroom. Their meticulous attention to colour, finish, durability and style ensured a perfect match for this fairy tale home.
